If anyone was ever in doubt about the veracity of the incongruity theory, look no further than Twitch Plays Pokemon. To those uninitiated into the cult of the almighty Helix (praise to him forever), Twitch Plays Pokemon (TPP) is an emulator program of Pokemon red version in which anyone can enter any one of the eight basic commands: up, down, right, left, a, b, start, and select. With thousands of people inputting commands, the result is nothing short of beautiful chaos. Watching the avatar stumble around, compulsively check his Pokedex, and call upon the great Bird Jesus to win his battles is so funny because it is impossible to know what's coming next, so whatever happens is unexpected.
